Where and When were you born?
I was born in a town outside Frankfort in Germany.

How did you know you were going to have to leave your home?
It was no longer safe for me to live there.

Were you in a concentration camp? If so, which one?
Yes, I was in Buchenwald.

When did you come to America?
I came to America in 1939 to New York.

Did your family survive?
No, I was the only one out of my family to survive.

Did you have to leave your friends behind?
Yes and I was very upset.

Did you ever go back to Germany? How did you feel?
Yes, and it was different to go back.

How old were you when you left Germany?
I was 19.

How do you continue to keep your story alive?
I share it with students at schools and other people interested in the Holocaust.

How do children react when they hear your story?
They are very interested and eager to learn more.
